Lombardi had spent some time with the player and he is now excited about the season.

Technically speaking, the former Oregon rusher Jonathan Stewart is at number two back in the Panthers behind DeAngelo Williams. He is entering in the third year in the NFL and he is said to be excited about the upcoming season.

Despite of his injury, Stewart had managed to run for 1,133 yards and a 5.1 yards per carry average last year.

Steve Smith, who recently broke his arm, calls the injury to be a freak accident. He regretted on Thursday playing in an adult flag football league in Charlotte at the Siskey YMCA where he broke his left arm. He also added futher that he won’t be doing it anytime soon again.

He is expected to miss his practice for six to eight weeks, but he may be ready for the regular season that is opening on September 12 against the New York Giants.

To the Mac Attack radio program Smith said, “Obviously, I put my team and myself in a bad situation by playing… But that wasn’t my intentiona and wasn’t what I thought the outcome was going to be.”

Later on Smith also added, “I am a regular guy outside of football. I mow my grass, too. I can get my finger chopped off fixing my lawnmower. I could roll my ankle playing tag or slip-n-slide with my kids. In hindsight, yeah, I won’t do it again. But I was just having fun, playing with some guys.”

Smith’s agent Derrick Fox said that a plate and screws were inserted in his arm during surgery on Sunday night.

Injured Steve Smith on Thursday expressed regret while taking shots at critics. He broke his left forearm on Sunday playing flag football. He slipped and tried to brace his fall by bringing his left arm ahead. Unfortunately he broke the same arm which was broken at the end of last season.

Smith phoned WFNZ-AM, the Charlotte radio station and acknowledged that he has been always participating in an adult flag football league at Charlotte YMCA.

He said, “Obviously, I put my team and myself in a bad situation by playing,” Smith said. “But that wasn’t my intention and wasn’t what I thought the outcome was going to be.”

Smith will be missing much of training camp, but he is being expected to play at the New York Giants in the regular-season opener September 12.

He also added further, “I wish I could take it back. But I am a regular guy outside of football. I mow my grass, too. I can get my finger chopped off fixing my lawnmower. I could roll my ankle playing tag or slip-n-slide with my kids. In hindsight, yeah, I won’t do it again. But I was just having fun, playing with some guys.”

Panthers star player, receiver in the NFL, Steve Smith broke his arm playing. According to Seattle Times, the injury took place on Sunday when he went up for a ball but missed it and went to the ground.

He put his arm out to prevent any body injury, but hard luck to him, he instead broke his arm and the same place which he broke last time.

This incidence may bring some heartbreak to the fans of Carolina Panthers because Steve Smith is a fantastic player and he is also known as one of the toughest players.

Steve Smith, 5′9″ is even regarded as one of the greatest short players in the history of NFL. He is known for his quickness and overall speed. Throughout his career, Smith is among the best playing player.

He was supposed to have a good season this year and it was also been expected by fans, but this injury may keep him away from the training camp.

This may be the worst season of QB Jake Delhomme. The Panthers placed him on injured reserve with a broken finger on his throwing hand on Thursday. Hence, the season ends the worst for him as a pro and also as raising questions about the future of the player with the Carolina Panthers.

Delhomme, 34-year-old, said that he broke the knuckle on his middle finger on November 29 in a loss to the Jets. Since then the player has not played or also practiced.

Matt Moore started the last 3 games and he had threw for a career-high 299 yards and 3 touchdowns on Sunday against Minnesota giving a victory to the team.

Carolina Panthers also promoted QB Hunter Cantwell from the practice squad so that he can take the post of Delhomme.

Though Delhomme committed 6 turnovers in the Panthers’ playoff loss to Arizona in the month January, he received a lucrative contract extension in the off-season. The player next committed five turnovers in a blowout loss to the Philadelphia in the start of the season, and had 18 interceptions and 8 touchdown passes in total of eleven games and completing 55.5 percent of his passes.

With Kemoeatu still questionable with a sprained ankle the Panthers are looking thin at defensive tackle. If they can beat New Orleans Sunday and clinch a first round bye, they should have time to rest up their starters.

According to Carolina Panthers head Coach John Fox, both offensive linemen Ryan Kalil and Jeff Otah were full participants in Wednesday’s practice. It is really exciting to finally get these two back on the field, as both Kalil and Otah have been out for almost and entire month. If Kalil and Otah do return Sunday, it will be the first time since week one that the Panthers will have all of their projected starters on the field.

Jeremy Bridges and Geoff Hangartner have filled in wonderfully for Otah and Kalil respectively, but the sooner the Panthers can get the entire line back the better. With Kalil and Otah back, the line can really start to build some continuity and chemsitry. I’m not saying that the line didn’t have continuity with Kalil and Otah out, but it really helps when you have the same five guys starting every week, because it allows for the trust between the players to grow. Now that Otah is back, look for DeAngelo Williams to have another big day Sunday. Otah’s specialty is run blocking, so he should really help improve an already potent ground game for the Panthers.

Both of Kalil and Otah’s backups have performed admirably. Geoff Hangarner and Jeremey Bridges have helped to maintain the offensive line’s sucsess, providing excelent protection for Jake Delhomme, and great running lanes for DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart.
