The Panthers signed their first draft picks today, seventh round pick Mackenzy Bernadeau, a guard from Bentley Collage, and Nick Hayden, the sixth round defensive tackle out of Wisconsin . Panthers General Manager Marty Hurney usually doesn’t get around to signing draft choices till July, so even though the Panthers are bit behind when compared to other teams, everything right on track with Hurney.

Don’t look for the Panthers to get any hight draft picks signed until at least the beginning of training camp especially their two number one picks. I don’t expect a holdout from either Jonathan Stewart or Jeff Otah, but you never know. It’s important to get picks signed now so that the players have plenty of time to adjust in training camp. Last year the Panthers didn’t sign Jon Beason, their number one pick, till half way through training camp which prevented him from starting until week three.

Ricard played for the Jacksonville Jaguars last season, but spent most of his time on the practice squad.

It is likely that Ricard will be either placed on the Panther’s practice squad or cut before the season starts. Hopefully, he will be able to catch on and show some of the elusiveness he had back in college.
