Getting rid of Jake Delhomme? No… says the Panthers. The Carolina Panthers wants to extend Delhomme’s contract. Delhomme is going to make eleven million this year. This is the final year of the contract. If Carolina Panthers signs Delhomme to an extension then they could cut that cap number by half for this year.

The coach of the Panthers, John Fox said, “There are discussions. There is no question we’ve got a commitment to Jake. Whether that comes to fruition with a contract (extension), I can’t say.” He said this in a NFL meeting.

The Carolina Panthers have a firm commitment to Jake Delhomme as their starting Quarterback despite the fans having a lot of criticism for him turning the ball over as much as he does. This also includes the six times he did in the playoff loss to the Cardinals.
John Fox also said in the NFL meeting, “Sometimes today’s headlines aren’t the right things (on which to base) a big decision. Jake had games like that during the season. He didn’t have an especially great game at Tampa. He didn’t have an especially great game out in Oakland. I think that can be said for any quarterback in the National Football League.”

He also mentioned that when one is a decision-maker, he can’t let the emotion of that one outing blur the big picture. … he wholeheartedly appreciated what fans say, and the critics. But he also thinks that he had a bad game; he’s not a bad quarterback.
