Wharton Back

The Panthers got starting left tackle, Travelle Wharton, back on the field Wednesday, which is great news for the Panthers.  After spraining his knee in week one, Wharton has been sorely missed.  Geoff Hangartener has filled in adequately, but the offense’s production just hasn’t been the same without Wharton, who opens up big holes in the run game.

With Wharton back, the Panthers should have a much easier time establishing the run against the Falcons, who rank 23rd against the run.  The Vikings and Bears are ranked 4th and 5th against the run, which shows you what the Panthers were up against in the last two games.  Look for big days out of DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart, who should see and increased workload.
