Jerry Richardson Ranked #4 Out of 32 Owners
July 25, 2008
Michael Silver over at Yahoo! Sports has released his annual NFL owner “power rankings”. In these rankings, he grades and ranks the owners based on how well the team’s market has responded to team success, how much money the owner is willing to spend, and how much of that money is spent effictively.
Jerry Richardson, owner of the Panthers, was ranked #4 on the list, which is very high praise.
Jerry Richardson was ranked behind Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots, Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, and Daniel Snyder, owner of the Washington Redskins.
I don’t agree with Daniel Snyder being ranked #3 on the list. He has made many questionable moves in the past off-seasons, especially this one (the Redskins traded a 2nd and 6th draft pick for DE Jason Taylor, who is currently in his mid-30’s). Because of this, I don’t put much credibility into this list. Another odd ranking was Wayne Weaver, owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars, being ranked #32. All he had done is bring a Pro Football franchise to Jacksonville, bring a Superbowl to Jacksonville, and help build a team that many people have winning the AFC.
