Steve Smith, who recently broke his arm, calls the injury to be a freak accident. He regretted on Thursday playing in an adult flag football league in Charlotte at the Siskey YMCA where he broke his left arm. He also added futher that he won’t be doing it anytime soon again.

He is expected to miss his practice for six to eight weeks, but he may be ready for the regular season that is opening on September 12 against the New York Giants.

To the Mac Attack radio program Smith said, “Obviously, I put my team and myself in a bad situation by playing… But that wasn’t my intentiona and wasn’t what I thought the outcome was going to be.”

Later on Smith also added, “I am a regular guy outside of football. I mow my grass, too. I can get my finger chopped off fixing my lawnmower. I could roll my ankle playing tag or slip-n-slide with my kids. In hindsight, yeah, I won’t do it again. But I was just having fun, playing with some guys.”

Smith’s agent Derrick Fox said that a plate and screws were inserted in his arm during surgery on Sunday night.

The Carolina Panthers officials said that a man pretended to be a football player of the Panther and he has swindled many people that is estimated to be $25,000. The person has told to at least 6 people that he is lineman Travelle Wharton and he also carried an identification card that hold the name of the player.

Lineman Travelle Wharton joined the Carolina Panthers club in the year 2004 as a starter. When he came to know that his identity is being used to trick victims for the purpose of fraudulent investment proposals, he was stunned.

To the media during a press brief Wharton said, “It’s your name, something you work hard for and to keep clean and you have somebody doing this. It’s kind of a shock and you feel violated.”

According to one victim, who is an aspiring music promoter and an adult entertainer, the fake person had promised her to endorse a music act at the CIAA basketball tournament during this year in Charlotte. Police said that the fake football player promised this to the victim for a payment.

The victim also claimed that she met the fraud at the Carolina Place Mall and had given him an amount of more than $5300.

The woman later met the real Wharton at the Bank of America stadium and then she realized that she had been scammed.
