Hurney confessed that investing nearly $20 million on Peppers was a bad decision. The team management said that it would have been difficult for the Panthers to sign other players and free agents if Peppers was given a long term deal.

Hurney also said that they have drafted quite well in the past few years and they are very thoughtful about the future of the talented new players.

Thomas Davis, Richard Marshall, Matt Moore and Jeff King are few of the key players signed by the Panthers this year. They will be given short term contracts and later on they will be given extensions. The Panthers are keen to keep Tyler Brayton, Keydrick Vincent and Dante Wesley.

More big decisions are still to be made in the coming years.

DeAngelo Williams, Ryan Kalil, Charles Johnson are some of the key players for the team. Their contacts are up.

The Panthers has been restricting to give any long term contracts since last spring due to possible lockout in 2011.

NFL on Monday announced that Ryan Kalil, an alternate and widely regarded as one of the NFL’s best young centers, will take place of New Orleans Saints center Jonathan Goodwin on the NFC roster.

Kalil, a former Carolina Panthers center and who recently completed his third NFL season will find DeAngelo Wiliams and Julius Peppers as his teammates in the New Orleans Saints. This is for the first time Kalial is going to appear at Pro Bowl.

His predecessor Goodwin was one of the 14 members of the Colts and Saints selected for the Pro Bowl. However, he would not be able to play because he is playing in the Super Bowl a week later. Change in schedule of Super Bowl this year has prevented players from the Championship teams to participate in the Super Bowl.

Both of Kalil and Otah’s backups have performed admirably. Geoff Hangarner and Jeremey Bridges have helped to maintain the offensive line’s sucsess, providing excelent protection for Jake Delhomme, and great running lanes for DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart.

The Carolina Panthers got their two starting tackles, Jeff Otah and Jordan Gross, back on the practice field Thursday. Although both were limited in practice, it is very likely that they will both be able to play, Sunday, in a huge divisional game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneer. This is reassuring news for the offensive line, which is also missing starting center Ryan Kalil.

The Panthers have yet to play and entire half with all of their projected offensive line starters, but Frank Omiyale, Geoff Hangartner, and Jeremy Bridges have filled in wonderfully. It is imperative that the Panthers are able to run the ball Sunday, as they are facing a very stout Tampa Bay defense.

D.J. Hackett will be out for Sunday’s game with an MCL sprain. Also, the Panthers got Matt Moore back on the practice field Wednesday for the first time since Moore broke his fibula in the last execbiton game.
